General Introduction

The Catholic Scouts of Ireland was founded in 1927.

Aims & Objectives

Through the principles and methods of Scouting its aim is to contribute to the spiritual, moral, cultural and physical development of its members so that they may take a constructive role in society as mature adults.

Programmes

There are four linked Programmes

Beavers 6-8 years The emphasis is on meeting and interacting with people their own age in a programme based around fun and discovery.
Cubs 8-11 Cubs are encouraged to work, play and grow together through a programme of games, crafts, nature study and activities in the outdoors, designed to match the vivid imagination of young people.
Scouts 11-16 The activities normally undertaken by scouts include hiking, camping, nature study, canoeing, swimming, etc.
Venturing 15-19 Venturing offers young people the opportunity to mature and develop themselves through programmes and activities designed by themselves with adult assistance.

Volunteer Profile

Boys and girls of all religions are welcome. Adults, to whom full training is given, may join as leaders from 18 years upwards. Cork City and county has 5,000 members.
