The Rubens

The Rubens consist of brothers Jed and Dan Ruben from nearby Coolehill. They have been around in one form or another for about 5 years or so. They started off as a covers band with some bass and drums with some mates from town and played a few gigs in Paddy's. They eventually split up after some disagreements in the camp and while attending college both guys played solo gigs in their respective college towns while also playing together anytime they got the chance. Both guys took to the states for Summer holidays at different times and busked their way from city to city. Since recently finishing college they have retired to Colehill to record their debut album and concentrate on music full time. They have set up their own record label, spaceboy records, all fully legal with lots of investment from local industries and have almost finished recording said album in their own home studio. They have spent a lot of money on equipment and getting the label structured properly and 2004 looks set to be a big year for the boys. Live they use drum and bass samples to fill out their sound and acoustic guitars mixed with electric guitar now and again is the order of the day. Their songs are poppy but very, very catchy and Dan possesses a great vocal range. Their album features many, many guest appearances and expect it to land with a bang sometime this year.
