Pipa the Clown tells you more about herself...
Who is Pipa the clown?
Born a long time ago in Bavaria as Karin Wimmer, she decided at the fragile age of 15 to become a clown. This was a start to a long journey, which brought her through many workshops with people like: Hans Galli (clown), Jango Edwards (clown), Peter Makal (mime), Ella Jaruselski (mime), Rodziankos (voice and dance), Hillary Bota (dance), Matthew Burton (physical theatre, commedia dell'arte), Carlo Manzoni (commedia dell'arte), Dzidek Starcynowski (mime), Contraband (contact improvisation), San Francisco Mime Troupe, Dell'Arte School (Blue Lake- California).
1984 - Berlin: She found her first group 'femania' (Aktion und Performance) she also was a founding member of the group Commedia and she worked with the TAK (a small theatre in Berlin) during their production the Bockerer.
1987- USA: She worked with the Cirque du Soleil during their first international tour ( ok I only sold programmes, but I made it my own show and got into Funny People with it).
1990-Munich: She worked with the Zirkus Trau Dich (international children's circus), created her first solo show Kon-fusion, worked with Magician Fernando and his magic circus and created her first large scale production in the Nachtwerk.
1996 her daughter Lena-Eileen was born
1997- In Galway Karin became Pipa. 300 birthday parties with the play along show later - as well as 4 years work with Macnas (Galway based performance group), where she participated in the making and performing of several parades, took and taught workshops, designed and directed the first Baboro children's parade and was part of the professional cast of Grainne Mhaol- she wrote and designed the show Piparella and the lost colours. This kept her busy until now and app. 30 000 children in Ireland have seen it by now. So it is time to start something new. Which is (guess???) yes, the GCP.
