PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITIONS

Ballinacree Historical Society was formed to collect and record the history of our locality for the benefit of the present and future generations.

"Images of Ballinacree", our first exhibition was held in 2000, it recorded the rapid social change locally over the past 100 years. "Ballinacree 2003" was an exhibition of photographs taken by local people during 2003 documenting every aspect of community life in Ballinacree at that time.

In September 2006 as part of Heritage Week, we held our third exhibition "A Celebration of our Schools Past and Present".  It was an interesting display of educational records, school photos, books, roll books and examples of needlework from our National Schools.  A historical talk by historian Antonia McManus on "The Hedge Schools of Ireland and its Books" also took place.

Below we have attempted to give show a small sample from each of the three exhibitions.
