Book Description
This book is a well-illustrated clinical introduction to
cranial manipulation techniques that takes the reader
through the underlying concepts and examines the
techniques themselves. As these techniques become
increasingly known and in demand this is the first book
that clearly and practically explains them to manual
therapy practitioners. An introductory section on the
relevant anatomy and physiology is followed by a short
history of the development of cranial methodology, as it
is relevant to practice today. Specific techniques are
outlined in straightforward language and combined with
high quality illustrations to show hand positions,
direction of motion, etc.
Table of Contents
Historical Development and Current Status of Cranial
Manipulation. Cranial Anatomy and Physiology. Cranial
Concepts. Assessment of Cranial Function. Treatment of
Cranial Dysfunction. Indications for Cranial Manipulation.
Treatment of Children with Cranial Manipulation. The

Book Description
What is cranial osteopathy? How and who does it help?
This no-jargon guide explains this increasingly popular
therapy. Cranial osteopathy is gentle and non-invasive.
Like osteopathy, it is based on the theory that the body
heals itself, and the best way to aid the process is to
promote balance in its structure and mechanics. Cranial
osteopathy specifically addresses the relationship
between bones and related structures in the head, face,
spine and pelvis within the healing process. Its effects
can be powerful and long-lasting. Using case studies and
line drawings, this manual describes what happens in a
session and explains how cranial osteopathy can help with
common and more serious problems, such as whiplash, RSI,
musculo-skeletal problems and mental illness. The text
also shows that cranial osteopathy can be used at
different stages of life such as infancy, the menopause
and old age. The book is rounded off with a section on
other complementary and natural therapies that encourage
wellbeing.

Book Description
With more than one hundred illustrated techniques, Atlas
of Manipulative Techniques for the Cranium & Face is
one of the most comprehensive sources of cranial
techniques available.
Organized by bone, each technique is illustrated through
remarkable drawings which graphically depict the
placement and movement of the practitioner's hands on the
patient's head. Accompanying text systematically
describes the purpose of the technique, the position of
both patient and practitioner, the points of contact, and
the movement of hands and fingers in relation to the
cranial motion.
The concise, systematic description of each technique and
the vivid illustrations which accompany the text have
contributed equally to the success which this book has
enjoyed throughout the world.
About the Author

manipulative medicine) and has a private practice in the

Switzerland where he teaches cranial and craniosacral
therapy. He lectures widely at workshops in Europe and
the United States.
A student of traditional manipulative therapies, Dr.
Gehin found that cranial manipulation is practiced
throughout the world. In his teaching and medical
practice he has integrated techniques from the medical
traditions of Asia, Europe, Oceania and the United States.

Book Description
While there is considerable diversity in the forms and
styles of cranial manipulation, all would agree that a
thorough understanding of the sutures of the cranium and
face is essential. Yet until now, no one has given these
important structures the attention they deserve.
In this ground-breaking work, the author describes the
structure and motion of the sutures in much greater
detail than ever before, showing with extensive
photographic evidence how the bones of the cranium
actually move, and how the practitioner can optimally
affect that movement. Based on many years of experience
in both the clinic and anatomy lab, Dr. Pick's analysis
is supported by over 300 photographs and illustrations.
Systematically examining each of the sutures, including
those of the face, vault, and base, Dr. Pick brings
clarity and precision to these descriptions. Everyone who
touches the head with a therapeutic intent will learn
many valuable lessons from this book.
This is likely to become the standard reference on the
cranial sutures for many years to come, and is an
essential book for all practitioners of cranial
manipulation.
About the Author
Marc G. Pick, D.C., earned his Diplomate and Fellowship
status in Craniopathy from the International Craniopathic
Society, sponsored by the Sacro-Occipital Research
Society International (SORSI). Since 1979 he has lectured
throughout the world under the auspices of SORSI. During
the past three decades Dr. Pick has performed over 7000
hours of human dissection. He is the founder of Project
Human, the construction of a prosected latex humanoid.
From 1987 to 1992 he studied Chinese medicine at the
Emperors College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, and in
1997 completed a postgraduate course in neurology with
the American Chiropractic Association. He is currently
investigating cranial and spinal meningeal attachments at
the dissection lab of Cleveland Chiropractic College in
Los Angeles. Dr. Pick is in private practice in Beverly
Hills.
