Peter (21/8/1997), Jenny (24/6/1999) and Michael (7/8/2003)

TYPE OF WORK
Pastor of Cavan Baptist Church, and also church-planting into surrounding areas by means of Bible Study groups and other forms of outreach.

BACKGROUND
Ian and Judith were brought up in Baptist circles in Northern Ireland. Ian’s dad is Pastor J.R. Grant of Carson Memorial Baptist Church, Tobermore, and Judith’s dad is Pastor S.C. Morrison of Thomas Street Baptist Church, Portadown. Both Ian and Judith trusted in Christ as young children. Ian trained for Christian work at the Irish Baptist College in Belfast. It was while he was working with Judith’s dad as an assistant pastor that they met, and a few years later they got married in 1994. By this time Ian was the pastor of Mullaghmeen Baptist Church in Co. Fermanagh. It was while working there that Ian was involved in planting the Cavan Church across the border. A year after their marriage they moved to live in Cavan town and with 50% support from Baptist Missions they have been developing the work there since. Judith trained as a teacher in Stranmillis College in Belfast and now teaches music two days per week in Lisnaskea High School in Co. Fermanagh.

SERVICE
After College (1986-89), Ian spent a year as an assistant pastor in Thomas Street Baptist Church, Portadown while he completed his BD degree (1989-90), and then five years developing the new church at Mullaghmeen in Co. Fermanagh. (1990-95). Since 1st September 1995 Ian has been giving full-time pastoral care to the new church in Cavan.   As well as pastoring the Cavan Church, and looking after the Youth Work, he is also responsible for two Bible Study groups in Cavan and Virginia. Up until Christmas 2002 Ian was also responsible for the new fellowship group in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, which Tim Coyle is now looking after.

  • PRAYER POINTS
  • pray for freshness in the preaching in all of these meetings.
  • pray for numerical and spiritual growth in the Cavan Church.
