Sciath na Scol! |

On Thursday 23rd May, Clonpriest N.S. won their section of the Boys Sciath na
Scol Finals in Páirc Uí Rinn, by beating Mayfield with a scoreline of 2-3 to
1-1. It was dry overhead, but ground conditions were not good, with plenty
of water and mud to be seen on the pitch. Nevertheless, our team played with
great heart and commitment, and should have been well on top at half time,
but had only scored 1-1. However, in the second half they picked off two
points, and scored a second goal, to secure victory for Gortroe. History was
made on this particular occasion, as this is the first Clonpriest Sciath na
Scol team to win both hurling and football in the same year. So well done to
all concerned and especially Séan Harnedy, who gave so much of his time to
this team.
