Ireland is an island located in Western Europe, west of Great Britain.
The terrain of Ireland is mostly level to rolling interior plain surrounded
by rugged hills and low mountains; sea cliffs on west coast.
It is strategic location on major air and sea routes between North America and
northern Europe; over 40% of the population resides within 97 km of Dublin.

The majority of the people of Ireland are Celtic. There is a small English minority.
The overwhelming majority of the people of Ireland are Roman Catholic. There is a
small Anglican minority. Ireland has traditionally had a large net migration, as
thousands every year left Ireland for the new world. In recent years that trend has
been reversed.
