Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)
This is the central application service for full-time undergraduate courses in the U.K.
Application can either be made online or on paper. Their website is www.ucas.co.uk. As there are so many more courses to choose from in the UK, getting online to do your research is essential. Click on the UCAS icon on the right to go directly to the UCAS website.
The UCAS system differs from the CAO system in that students may only apply to six courses. They do not write these courses on the application form in order of preference. Instead, they must be written alphabetically. The closing dates are also different and are as follows:
1st September -
Opening date for receipt of applications.
15th October -
Closing date for applications to Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary science.
1st January -
Opening date for receipt of art and design Route B applications.
15th January -
Closing date for applications but not for applications from outside the UK or EU.
5th March -
Closing date for art and design Route B.
24th March -
Final closing date for art and design Route B.
12th June -
Last date for receipt of art and design Route B before clearing.
30th June -
Last date for changes to the application form and for receipt of all applications before clearing.
20th September -
Last date for clearing applications.
