Formed
over 50 years ago, Carrigaline Pipe Band have been truly great ambassidors
for the town they represent. Originally formed as an L.D.F. volunteer
band during the war years, they made their initial appearance as a civilian
band in 1946, becoming the first in Munster to join the newly formed
Irish Pipe Band Association. Two years later the band paraded in it's
own uniform for the first time. The fifties heralded a steady rise to
prominence. The first of ten successive Munster Junior Championships
came in 1957 - a unique achievement. Following a number of years of
hard work, their present bandroom at Church Road was opened in 1976.
The band has participated in many major events and had much competitive
success in the intervening years. Young pipers and drummers are trained
by senior members on an ongoing basis, thus ensuring the continuation
of the proud traditions of Carrigaline Pipe Band.
