World Cup 94

This is my favourite callcard, it is a picture of the Irish team, when they were competing in the World Cup. It was held in the USA in 1994.The picture was taken in Landsdowne Road, where Ireland play most of their International  matches. Jack Charlton is sitting in the middle. He was the manager at the time. He won a World Cup medal in 1966, when he played for England. He has a famous brother called Bobby Charlton. He played for Manchester United, Jack played for Leeds United.

FAI stands for the Football Association of Ireland.

In the World Cup Ireland were in Group E. Italy, Mexico and Norway were also in their group. Ireland’s first match was against Italy it was played in Giant’s Stadium in New York. The score was 1-0 to Ireland. Their second match was against Mexico. It was played in the Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando. The score was 2-1 to Mexico. Ireland's last game was against Norway. It was played in Giants Stadium in New York. The score was a nil all draw.Ireland did not make it to the next round in USA '94
