We
are sport mad --: There is a broad range of sports available to the pupils in the school. We are very proud of our sporting traditions here in Edmund Rice Primary School. Ever since the Christian Brothers came to the town in 1867, there has been a strong tradition in Gaelic games, namely hurling and Gaelic football. Football would be the stronger of the two games locally. We have strong links with all the sporting clubs in the town and we work together with the clubs to provide a wide range of sporting activity for the young people here in the town. In the school itself we offer the range of games listed below. We have coaches in the school on a regular basis to teach the boys the basis skills of hurling, gaelic football, swimming and lately we have introduced the sport of touch rugby. We do not have a school hall but we have use of a fine hall in C.B.S. Secondary School, which is only a stones throw from us across the yard. Leagues are organised for the pupils, which usually take place after school. You can read more about this stamp by clicking here.Click on the sport link to learn more about that sport in the school Hurling THIS PAGE IS CURRENTLY UNDER MAJOR WORK |
