As part of our prize from Tayto in February,1997 we were signed up
for one year's free internet access from Indigo Internet Providers. This
opened up a whole new world for all of us here in Edmund Rice Primary
school. For the first few weeks we did not know what to do with this brand
new state of the art computer. We were then given an e-mail account for
the school. We all wondered to ourselves 'what do we do now'. We needed to
communicate with some other teachers and pupils in some other part of the world, but
how do we get in touch with them. We went searching on the
internet and signed up with the "World Wide Classroom Project"
and registered our school. We didn't have long to wait when we received an
e-mail from Sally Nelson from Galesburg, Illinois, USA. So started a very
rewarding friendship between the pupils from this school and the
pupils of Raymond Marquith school in Galesburg. Long may it continue.
