 Halberstadt CLII

Designed as a two-seat fighter to act as an escort for the earlier and heavier C-type recce aircraft the Halberstadt CLII first appeared in 1917 and soon entered service with the Schutzstaffeln (protection flights) of the German Aviation Service. On 6 September 1917, 24 Halberstadt CLII aircraft attacked and decimated British troops crossing the bridges over the Somme at Bray and St. Christi. As a result they were then designated Schlachstaffeln (battle fighters) for future close-support roles.

The German Air Service two-seater. It has a poor climb rate, a slow roll rate, and is the slowest plane in the set but it turns on a dime and will surprise anyone in anything if the CLII pilot is only hauling a few percent fuel load and they start turning with him. In "scout mode" it can carry 8 x 6lb Grenades (from it's real life close support role) but they are not much use in DoA at present (except for dropping on low Zeppelins). The other two-seater (F.2B) does everything the CLII does and better (bar turn). The CLII has a 7.92 Parabellum MG for the gunner, and one 7.92 LMG 08/15 MG Spandau up front.
