The lower score the better the all round performance. Interesting to
see that the Spads scored high in the total of the comparison tests yet
their roll and turn rates are relatively weak. It you use their strengths
(ie speed and dive) you should have success in the DoA arena when flying
them, according to the tables. Similarly the SE5a. Again it's roll and turn
rate are weak yet dive, climb, and speed are strong.
Though the CLII scores low across the board it's superior turn rate will
take it all away from you if you try to turnfight it... so beware.
The Sopwith F.1 Camel comes out ahead as the all round top performer
at lower altitudes. The Spad VII and SE5a perform better (by the numbers)
at medium altitudes, and the Camel is back up on top at around 8,000 feet.
Sustained fights at 8,000 feet and higher are rarities though. As the fight
(and Camel) falls back down though 5,000 feet a SE5a who uses the vertical
will gain the upper hand (or should) until the fight ends up on the deck.
