A  Code Of behaviour And Discipline

The aim of this code of behaviour and discipline is to ensure that the individuality of each child is accommodated, while acknowledging the right of each child to education in a relatively  disruption free environment.

Our school rules are kept to a minimum and are positively stated in terms of what pupils should do. Respect for others forms the basis for the code of good behaviour. Teachers will be conscious of raising the level of self-esteem of each child and of giving all pupils a genuine pride in their work, in their school and in their community. We expect pupils to strive towards a high level if good manners. Polite language is expected from pupils at all times.

Our School:
Seeks to live by Christian values.
Recognises the dignity of each individual.

Discipline plays an essential part in your child's development, both in fostering self-discipline and in creating an atmosphere where orderly work and serious study are possible. All school rules are intended to encourage this self-discipline and create an atmosphere of orderly work.

STRATEGIES FOR DEALING WITH UNACCEPABLE BEHAVIOUR

We accept that there is a need for sanctions to register disapproval of unacceptable behaviour. These, however contain a degree of flexibility to take account of individual circumstances. Misbehaviour will be checked immediately it occurs.

A teacher will report repeated instances of serious misbehaviour to the Principal while at the same time keeping a written record of all such instances. This record will indicate the warnings and/or advice given to the chid on the misbehaviour and the consequences of its repetition. Pupils will be informed when instances of serious misbehaviour on their part are being recorded. Parents will be kept fully informed from the outset if instances of
serious misbehaviour on the part of their children.

The overall responsibility for disciplines within the school rests with the Principal. This responsibility in a manner which is consistent and fair to all pupils. Each Teacher has responsibility for the maintenance of discipline within her classroom while sharing a common responsibility for good order within the school premises. A pupil will be referred to the principal for serious breaches of discipline and for repeated incidents of minor misbehaviour.
