Tranquillisers

Street Names; Tranks, Downers, Bennys.

What are they? There are literally thousands of diferent prescription tranquillisers on the market and they generally                                                                                      come in tablet or capsul form. Many are benodiazepines, the most common of which of which are Flunitrapezam,                                                                                Diazepam, Loraxpezam and Temeazepam. They are sometimes circulated on the black market amoung addicts.

The Highs; They reduce stress and anxiety and help peaceful sleep.

The Lows; After about 4 months their tranquillising ability wear off. They have side effects which can be unpleasant      and upsetting, particularly for elderly people. Common side effects include tiredness, confusion and weight loss.           Many people become physically addicted to them after a while, and experience distressing withdrawal symptoms           like panic attacks if the drugs are stopped suddenly. Tranquillisers can make some people feel so listless and              drained of emotion that they find it impossible to tackle the REAL problems underlining their anxiety.
