The 'bottle' is made using reed and a hazel rod tied with twine. | |

The tops of the reed are whittled off with a sharp knife to make a witches broomstick. | |

The end of the hazel rod is inserted into the area in need of repair. | |

And thrust upwards into the thatch. | |
 |

The bottle is left slightly protruding. | |
 |
Then the ends are clipped flush with the rest of the thatch. | |

And a finished surface is created. | |
