Beltony Stone Circle 16th November 2003
These photos were all taken around noon.
The first is the view from about 200 yards away, facing roughly west. This is the first view of the circle as you approach from the path.
This is a bit closer, viewing roughly South. The largest stones can be seen right of centre.
This is from the centre of the circle, looking SW. It shows the outer circle roughly one diameter further out (now a hedge).
Another view South, showing spider webs all over the ground.
Another view of the outer ring, roughly North West
Roughly South East, showing the only remaining outlying stone:
Due east, showing the pointy stones (3), each of which is cup-marked, and points to a nearby hilltop.
And next, looking roughly West, the largest stones, which mimic and point to Errigal, Donegal's highest mountain, which can be seen on the far horizon. (I had to move about 1 metre right from the centre point to show Errigal)
Lastly a line used by sheep. It is parallel to the outside of the circle for part of its path. Note the outer 'circle' to the right.
