River Deele.

Heavy showers.

The Snowdrops are now fully open, and the white clumps are a welcome sight amongst the dark winter debris.

The bridge over the river always has some interesting mosses. On the left is Grimmia pulvinata, with the spore capsules tucked in, as usual. On the right is what appears to be another Grimmia, but the capsules are held high, so I'm searching for a firm id on that one.

This moss usually grows on vertical rock surfaces, and is very dense with tiny leaves. A Barbula, maybe Barbula unguiculata. Specimen shown about 20 cm. across.
