Local waste ground.

Sun and blue sky all day, but cool in the shade.

After a few days of blue sky I wondered if some insects had been lured out of pupation. This Eristalis pertinax rewarded my search of a south-facing wall.

This specimen of Osier - Salix viminalis - is showing stunted leaves. The ends are frost-burnt, as is the growing tip of the branch..

Two shots of Germander Speedwell - Veronica chamaedris. The right-hand image shows the diagnostic, oft-mentioned-but-rarely-shown line of hairs.

Red deadnettle - Lamium purpureum - seems to come and go throughout the year, sometimes becoming almost invisible as it takes a rest from flowering.
