Steeple, to catch up with what I missed yesterday.

For those of you who like lists, my Species Index has now reached 751 species.

Heavy showers.

Another moth larva, this time on Beech. It's either Northern Winter Moth or Winter Moth.

Larva about 12mm long.

And the Beech is also host to this leafminer - a beetle - Salius fagi. Every leaf on this very large tree appeared to be occupied. The mine starts at the centre of the leaf and runs to the edge where it forms a blotch.

Larva about 5mm long.

A new fungal rust for me. It's Puccinia violae, on Viola reichenbachiana.

A rather interesting Snipe fly.

The Tiger Eye - Coltricia perennis - appears to be living up to its name. This is a very fresh specimen on the bank under Rhododendrons. About 15 mm. across, taken with flash. And Hypholoma fasciculare - Sulphur Tuft - on the right.

Yellow Pimpernel - Lysimachia nemorum - appears in great numbers, but only in a couple of local places: both ancient woodland.

I'm continuing to find brand new leaves with infestations or infections: parasites don't waste any time. This is a fungal gall - Taphrina tosquinetii - on Alder.
