Original Hedgerow

Dull and warm. One Painted Lady.

The Meadowsweet attracts a number of parasites/predators. This first image shows a fungal rust - Triphragmium ulmariae.

Then on the left we have some larvae and their eggs. And on the right, galls created by another parasite.

A couple of new hoverflies, now. The one on the left has a striking green thorax and white abdomen. The hoverfly - Leucozona lucorum - on the right was a very fast and strong flyer.

This Painted Lady butterfly has flown all the way from North Africa/Southern Europe. A very clean example.
