25th September

Path through forestry.

Dry and bright.

I've seen Scutellinias on the ground, but this is the first one I've seen growing on the end of a log. About 5mm diameter.

Perhaps Scutellinia scutellata.

Two shots of Helvella crispa - The Common White Helvella - showing the contorted upper surface and the chambered stem.

On September 16th I showed a tiny mushroom growing on a log. This is a more mature specimen. Cap about 12mm across. Spores oval and smooth.

And just to show that not everything is fungal, a pair of photographs of Black Darter Dragonflies. The one on the right is a female, but the specimen on the left is immature - the colouring isn't developed. I'll plump for a male.
