Scoil Mhuire Newsletter  November 2010

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

As winter has well and truly set in I would urge parents to ensure their children wear coats to school at this time of year. Seasonal colds and flu are already doing the rounds but hopefully we will be spared any serious medical outbreaks this year.

Our special good wishes go out to Emma Power from 1st class who is currently recovering from a serious operation in Beaumont hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery.

School Photos

Colorific photos went out to all families on Friday .If you wish to purchase your child’s photos please have payment in by Friday 26th November. Families are under no obligation to buy photos, just return the pack if not purchasing.

Christmas Carol Service

It might seem a little early but we are now beginning preparation for our Carol service which will be held in St James Church, Horeswood on Tuesday 14th December at 7pm. Ms Lawlor and Mr Cadogan’s 3rd classes will present the story of Christmas interwoven with carols.

School attendance

As a point of information classroom roll call is taken at 10.30am. If a child is going to be late for some reason please contact the school in advance as once the roll is taken it cannot be changed. A note should be sent in to class teachers after any absence. Medical certs are not necessary but a note explaining the absence is kept for the National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB). Senior class children should all be in school at 9.20 , only infants to 2nd may use the late junior bus from Campile

Games Day fundraiser

Congratulations to 6th class who organised and managed the Games afternoon prior to the midterm break. The class voted for the proceeds of €500 to go to the local scouts who are busy fundraising at the moment to improve their facilities. The school will get 6 free games from Hasbro and the class is compiling a Photostory on the event.

Literacy Night

A reminder for Junior Infant parents that there will be a talk on developing early literacy on Thurs night (18th ) at the school at 8pm. As the role of parents is pivotal to literacy development it is hoped that all families will be represented.
