18.12.2003 It was a disappointing end to the year for Inchicore losing out by three goals to a very efficient Ballymun team in the last 16 of the NFM Cup. Not to be disheartened though we can now concentrate on both sides improving on their league positions in the new year. There will be no more games until the league re-opens on the 15th of January. A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped out to bring about the very first Inchicore FC newsletter which will be available once a month, ask Ger Looney for details on that one if anyone has not heard about it yet. Before we go everyone at Inchicore would like to wish the players (including their girlfriends, wives etc...), the sponsors and anyone else who I have forgotten to mention a very Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Thats it for this year, continue your support for the website and newsletter and remember be careful out there :) 7.12.2003 What a weekend for Inchicore it was, the best weekend everyone here at the club can remember for a long time. Two games, two victories and more importantly two clean sheets made us all very very happy. The team are now unbeaten in two games in 1A Saturday and unbeaten in two games in Premier B, to read more about Sundays game click here. Stephen Kennedy shocked everyone by re-signing for us however his return was short lived after a dreadful tackle in yesterdays game. Aaron Reynolds put the pressure on Mick Mooney with a brace of goals to draw level in the golden boot competition and Wizzo proved how reliable he is between the posts with his third clean sheet in a row on Sunday. It's a big week this week with the team travelling to play the mighty Ballymun on Sunday in the AUL complex in the last 16 of the NFM Cup, we all hope that everyone will get behind the team and lend their full support. 24.11.03 A weekend of mixed results this week with Ger Looneys team crashing out of the Liddy Cup on Sunday and Martin Leonards side extending their unbeaten run to two matches. The victory on Saturday was thanks to Mick McDonald scoring his first goal of the season, having come on as a sub, and a brilliant finger tips save from Wizo in the dying moments. Hopefully they can continue with this rich vein of form and improve on their league position in the coming weeks. As was said earlier Inchicore crashed out of the Liddy Cup on Sunday to read more about this match click here. This years Xmas party will be a 1970s' fancy dress affair, don't forget to get your costumes, tickets cost 40 euro and must be paid before this Sunday. Also a word of thanks to Paul Martyn for the pictures and old newspaper reports that he uncovered for us during the week. 17.11.03 Inchicore failed to win again this weekend but did manage to rescue a point against Blackditch United at a bitterly cold Le Fanu Park on Saturday afternoon thanks to another goal from leading goal scorer Mick Mooney. Dermot Farrell was the inspiration behind his teams second half revival with a half time team talk, the likes of which has never been seen before on any sporting field. A few more rousing speeches like this one and who knows what could happen in 1A Saturday. In other news David Thorpe, Director of Football, has organised this years Xmas party for the 17th of December at The Anglers Rest. The party is on a Wednesday so try and take a day off in case too much alcohol is consumed, for more details please don't hesitate to contact David. As was said earlier Mick Mooney grabbed another goal to extend his lead in the race for the golden boot can anyone stop him? 09.11.03 Inchicore marched on in the Nivea for men cup on Sunday after coming back from the dead following an inspiring half time team talk from Derek Smallhorn. To read more about this game click here. Mick Mooney stretched his lead in the goal scoring charts after scoring a penalty in the 3-1 defeat to Rivervalley Rangers at Brickfields on Saturday. However Jamie Stears, Keith Marshall and Aaron Reynolds are hot on his tail after each bagging a goal in yesterdays win. 26.10.03 It's good to be back after my extended break from the team is all I can say. My apologies to everyone who logged on last week to view the site but I couldn't update it because I got stuck in London for a while longer than I had planned. Unfortunately my extended break didn't change the teams performances, crashing out of the Leinster Junior Cup, losing to league leaders Neilstown Rangers in Saturday 1A and losing heavily again in Premier B. This week sees us face a tricky away trip to Corduff on Saturday and a chance to get back to winning ways in the Nivea for Men Cup against St Pauls on Sunday. It seems that no-one can knock Mick Mooney from the top of the goal scoring charts, he's still out in front with four goals to his name, maybe that will all change after this weekend. 12.10.03 Another weekend of mixed results and indiscipline with no less than three red cards dished out to two players and a manager who shall remain nameless. Earlier in the week Ray McHugh resigned as Saturday team manager leaving the way clear for Martin Leonard and Dermot Farrell to take over as joint managers. With two fine performances from the team under the two earlier in the season a lot was expected from them this weekend and they didn't fail to deliver. A brilliant 4-1 victory away to Hot Press MGB was achieved thanks to a four goal haul from Mick Mooney. These goals have catapulted Mick to the top of the goal scoring charts, lets hope Mick and both Dermot and Martin continue to deliver the goods. Unfortunately in Premier B five games into the season and we still haven't registered our first victory, losing 3-0 to league leaders Valley Park. 6.10.03 A weekend of mixed results with the Saturday team losing heavily in the league again after two impressive cup performances. However on Sunday two consecutive defeats were put behind the team as they got another much needed win under their belts. Things are also beginning to hot up in the race to be the clubs top goal scorer with no less than five players tied for first place on two goals each. In other news a great day was had by all on Sunday at the Bohemians and St Patricks Athletic Carlsberg Cup semi-final. I'm sure there was a few sore heads around this morning with the amount of alcohol that was consumed, Big D incidentally was voted best dancer ever to have set foot in Gogartys :). 29.9.03 Inchicore advanced to the second round of the Leinster Junior cup on Saturday with a well earned victory thanks to a goal from Director of Football David Thorpe. Unfortunately though the losing streak continued in Premier B when we went down 3-0 to Bellurgan yesterday morning. Many thanks go out to all who helped, from the sponsors to the lovely ladies who took bets at the bar. In footballing matters a brave performance wasn't enough to see Inchicore through to the second round of the elastoplast cup on Saturday. With the score tied at 3-3 in the final minute of the game a dubious penalty was awarded to the away side and Inchicore crashed out. Things got even worse on Sunday when we crashed out of the FAI Junior Cup with a record equalling 8-1 defeat at the hands of Sheriff Utd. A first for all who were lucky enough or unlucky enough to see it when Matthew Mahony became the first ever person to streak across Blubell Road. What made it worse was it was cold and raining, you are a brave man Matthew!! Lets all hope that next week sees us return to winning ways. 14.9.03 Finally the losing streak has ended with a deserved 4-2 victory over East Wall at Walkinstown Park. Aaron Reynolds shot to the top of the goal scoring charts with a brace that earned him this weeks man of the match award (a firm handshake from Ger Looney). To read more about this game click here. Saturday was a different story however with a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Corduff in our opening fixture, lets hope next week will see our first win in Saturday 1A. 8.9.03 Inchicores losing streak continued at the weekend with a below par performance and another red card resulting in a 4-2 defeat at the hands of East Wall. 1.9.03 Inchicore lost again yesterday to Sheriff in Premier B, to read about this match click here. The draw for the first round of the FAI Junior cup has also been made giving us a home tie against Sheriff Utd. Just a small reminder to everybody that the race night takes place on the 19th of this month, please don't forget. 25.8.03 Inchicore kicked off the new season with a narrow loss to Kilbarrack away from home. A spirited second half display failed to produce a goal for Inchicore but a lot of positives were taken from the game. Paddy Dunne received a nasty cut to his head but looked fine back in Kellys pub after the match, a true battler. To read more about this game click here. 11.8.03 A monumental decision was reached over the weekend, Inchicore Athletic and Inchicore Celtic have joined forces to become Inchicore FC. The survival of both clubs was in the interest of those who have brought about this new era for the club and it all kicked off yesterday afternoon with a thrilling 3-3 draw with Law Society in Walkinstown Park. Here's to the future of Inchicore FC, let's all hope that the move brings with it the great success that both clubs have enjoyed over the years. Remember to keep logging on for details about new committee members and updated player profiles.
