*the school Gym is always on offer to the local community for sport etc.on February 1st a Basketball Marathon was held to help raise funds for the after school basketball team of Primary students & 1st & 2nd Yrs.

Our Senior Girls Gaelic Football Team did the school proud this year. Under the direction of Ms. Timmons and Ms. Callaghan the girls made it to the Connacht Final. The team played and were victorious over Davitt College, Castlebar in the Quarter Finals

and Dunmore Community School in the Semi- Finals in Charlestown. Sadly, on May 5th 2002 in the Finals the girls lost out to Scoil Mhuire, Ballinasloe, but it was a tightly played match and it was only in extra time that Scoil Mhuire got the upperhand and just about clenched the match!

The school had two buses of supporters up at the Finals and no-one was disappointed with the teams performance and effort. The girls played brillantly as a team and did themselves and their supporters proud.

Green Schools Flag
Due to the hard work and dedication of students and teachers on the Green Schools Committee the school has been awarded the Green Schools Flag which is quite an honour and achievement and all involved deserve congratulations. Ms. Mulcaire and fellow committee members have worked very hard this year and we would all like to congratulate them on their achievement for the school. The presentation of the Green Flag Award, took place on Tuesday, May 21st in the MacNeill Theatre, Trinity College Dublin.
