1911 Census

1911 Census of Ireland

The 1911 Census is similar in layout to the 1901 Census, with data given on name, age, religion, occupation, literacy or not, marital status, relationship to householder, county of birth, and ability to speak English and/or Irish. However, a number of additions were made. Married women were required to state the number of years they had been married, the number of children born alive and the number of children still living. The return also records details of houses, giving the number of rooms, outhouses and windows, and the type of roof.

The 1911 Census is presently being microfilmed by the National Archives, and will be made available to researchers in the near future in the Local Studies Department.
