These books are an early eighteenth century copy of books compiled by the Office of the Auditor-General in the later seventeenth century to summarise the extensive changes in land ownership that had taken place in Ireland since 1640. Each page of the books is divided into two sections; the left-hand side or ‘distribution’ shows the subsequent changes of ownership under the confiscations of the 1650’s, the Acts of Settlement and Explanation of the 1660’s and the forfeitures of 1668.
