Griffith's Valuation

Griffith's Valuation:1849-1850

The Primary Valuation, which was carried out between 1848 and 1865, was intended to settle the valuation of each house and holding in the country for the purposes of local taxation. The valuation books give names of the occupiers of land and buildings and of the persons from whom these are leased, the amount of land and the valuation of the property.

Available in bound copy in the Local Studies Department and the City Library, John’s Quay.

A microfiche of Griffith’s Valuation for Kilkenny and the surrounding counties of Carlow, Waterford and Tipperary is also available in the Local Studies Department.
