Kilkenny City Library at its site on John's Quay, Kilkenny has been providing a library service to the public since its opening in 1910. The initial service was funded with agrant of £2,500 from the Carnegie Trust on a site provided by the Countess of Desert.

 The Library offers an extensive selection of adult titles, both fiction and non-fiction as well as a large childrens' section. The branch has a comprehensive refrence section as well as a ready reference local studies's section. More indepth queries can be adressed to the Local Studies's Department in the adjacent Library Headquarters. The branch has four computers offering Internet access to library members and also has a coin operated photocopier. The branch has access to the Library's database of book information, please check with staff for details.

 The branch has an on-going programme of activities for both adults and children. This includes exhibitions, talks etc. The Library is interested in providing facilities for any person or persons intersted in exhibiting to the public.
