Barryroe

On Tuesday the 26th of April, we travelled to Barryroe to complete the final game of the Sciath na Scol group Roinn H9. When we got to Barryroe, We were all fired up. Kilbrittain and Barryroe tore into each other. Kilbrittain were flying high in the first half, but found the going tougher in the second half. There was even a few broken hurleys! Kilbrittain hung on for a vicory well deserved in the end though.

The Boys Final

On the 31st of May both teams travelled to Pairc Ui Rinn.

Once the ball was thrown in Kilbrittain got off to a great start with a fine goal from Jamie Wall.  Conor Moloney pointed a sixty-five and Kilbrittain were leading 1-1 to 0-0. But Canovee didn’t give up yet and they pulled back a goal on the stroke of half time.

Kilbrittain 1-1 to 1-0.

From the beginning of the second half Ethan O’Mahony added a second goal and when Chris Hickey added a third two minutes later things were looking bleak for Canovee. Jamie Wall pointed minutes later but Canovee dug deep and were rewarded with a goal and a point. But Kilbrittain weathered the storm and Pauraic Deasy, Captain of this great Kilbrittain side raised the cup.

Girls

BALLINEEN

Our first match was in our school pitch because our club pitch was to mucky. They came in a bus and we all got ready in the prefab. Our match started at 12:30 and we scored 2 goals in the first half so we were wining. We were going well at the last five minutes they scored 2 goals so we drew. It was a good match

BALLINORA

Our second match was played in Ballinora. They were playing Ballineen that day so we had a chance. We played evenly throughout the match and didn’t score till the second half. We scored 2 points but we were allowed only 1 so we one by 1

Point. Ballinora was disappointed because they didn’t win any match that day.

BARRYROE

Our third match was in Barryroe. It was supposed to be in Kilbrittain but it was too wet. We got a bus over to Barryroe. This was our best ever match. I was a back and I never even touched the ball! In the second half, most of our subs got a game as well.

The Girl’s Final

After our three matches we got into the final against Blarney in Pairc Ui Rinn. But even better, we won the final by two points. We were delighted. The boys won their match as well so it was better than we expected. Both teams achieved a trophy and a cup. All the players won a medal as well. We celebrated after by going to McDonalds for some food. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kilbrittain 1-2 Blarney 1-0

Results:

Conor Maloney came second in the U13 race. Unfortunately, he was the only boy to receive a prize. In the U13 relay they were very unlucky not to get 3rd. When I was up in the stand I thought they were 3rd.

In the girls they got 3 medals. Sinéad Maloney came 1st in the U11s. Sarah Burke came 1st in the U8s and Caroline Murphy came 2nd in the U9s.

Many pupils in Kilbrittain National School go to horse riding in West Cork Equine Centre. They have a variety of things for people to do like hacking (riding on the road), show jumping, dressage (flat work) and beach rides. Not only pupils from our school go horse riding but also children from Bandon, Clonakilty and the other side of Cork and many more people from all over the world. Adults, children, teenagers any age can go horse riding in West Cork Equine Centre.
