In Kilbrittain N.S we do P.E like every other school with our own teachers but sometimes we also have a man called John Desmond in to do it with us. He mainly plays Gaelic Football with us in the yard. John Desmond is a referee for both Gaelic Hurling and Football. He even refereed a few games the pupils of the school have been involved in. He has taught us how to hand pass a ball, how to punt kick a ball, how to kick a ball on the run and much more.

We do Sciath na Scol training at lunchtime with the Master for the boys and with Mary Burke for the girls. Every second week the boys and girls also train with John Desmond. We had Tom Knott in to do a few hurling skills with us as well. He was in Kilbrittain N.S for 6 weeks. He taught us many skills from the art of hurling. The P.E in our school is great. All have great fun at P.E. with John Desmond.

And when John Desmond is not around we go down to the yard. We play Dodgeball, basketball or other activities but when we go up to the pitch we are able to do relays, soccer, Gaelic Football and much more.

After the E.U. became bigger thanks to the joining of ten new countries to the union on May the first two-thousand and four, we did projects about them. So, we learned as much as we could about the country we were supposed to learn about. The seven countries we were to learn about were seven of the ten countries that joined the E.U. in 2004. The countries in the projects were Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania and Malta. Poland, The Czech Republic and Latvia weren’t in the projects.

We made books about different events in history, such as the French Revolution, the Irish Famine, and even about the never-ending Troubles in Northern Ireland. We have fact-files, portraits, photos and more about the events. We have pictures of different pages of each book. After we finished each book there was a competition to see which was the best book. We’d talk about a book, we did small plays as well. One classmate even dressed up as Hitler!
