Salmon and Trout Fishing on The Bandon River County Cork

Kilcoleman is situated on The Bandon River which flows through some of the most scenic countryside in the South West of Ireland. For centuries it has been recognized as one of the best fly fishing locations in County Cork. It is 27 miles from Cork airport, and 6 miles west of the town of Bandon. The owner combines a life-long enthusiasm for fly fishing having inherited his skills from successive generations of fly angling ancestors dating back to the late seventeen hundreds when his family, The Lamb's, first purchased Kilcoleman.
Kilcoleman is renowned for its hospitality. The owners David and Patricia Lamb make a particular effort to make their guests feel at home. Past visitors have described the atmosphere as 'most relaxing ' and the accommodations as 'homely'. Kilcoleman is "fly only" for salmon throughout the entire season except for certain circumstances (subject to river conditions and owners discretion). Trout angling is "fly only" at all times. If you require a memorable holiday in a peaceful, un-spoilt environment, with an abundance of wild life, and the added bonus of Irish Hospitality, then Kilcoleman can offer you something quite unique.
For those in a party who don't wish to fish, Kilcoleman is an ideal location for such pastimes as golf, horse - riding, bird watching, painting, photography, and of course just walking around relaxing. We are ten miles from the Atlantic, 20 miles from Kinsale (recognized as the 'gourmet centre' of Ireland), 8 miles from Clonakilty also offering excellent restaurants and Irish Pubs, 4 miles from an eighteen hole golf course, 10 miles from a riding establishment, and within easy reach of day tours to West Cork and Kerry.
We receive many enquiries about fishing in County Cork. Please note that we are not agents for other fisheries and advise you to look at our links page for such information. You can also contact The South Western Fisheries Board:-Macroom, Co.Cork (Tel 026 41221) who are a good source of information. Preference on our fishery is always given to guests staying in our accommodation. For those requiring day tickets preference will be given to those staying in B&B next door.
".....in a fit of envy I made a mental note to find the time to return to Kilcoleman the following season. I stand as good a chance of a salmon here as almost anywhere in Ireland" -
(Edwin Oxlade. Trout and Salmon Magazine Dec 1994)
"MY FIRST week in Ireland sharing the fine country home and lives of David, and Pat Lamb were marvel filled days and evenings of new impressions, feelings, and emotions. Fishing lessons blended with geography, history, excellent food and a wee dram now and again of ambrosial Irish whiskey. More than all the rest, I was treated to the warmest, most relaxed hospitality I can recall"
(Jim Repine.Atlantic Salmon Journal. Summer 1997).
