This is our outdoor shelter. Last year, with the help of an artist we painted this mural which represents our daily lives here at Lisheenkyle National School as we enter the 21st century.

Poetry by Graham;

COLD WINTER EVENING

The wind whistled still in the moonlight dim.

As the wind blows across the lake.

The sound of the owls set the mood.

On that cold winter evening.

I rode the boat across the lake

As it was getting cold.

The sound of the birds high in the sky.

As they were going to their nest

On that cold winter evening.

On my way I noticed the willows

Dancing in the wind.

And the leaves of the trees.

Rustle in the breeze

On that cold winter evening.

At last I reached the house.

And put on a fire it kept me warm.

Through that cold winter evening.

DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY

If I come with you tonight,

Say you never leave me,

You are the best and the worst of me,

So say you will marry me,

And we will dance the night away.

But she said no,

So I am left alone

In the place I call home

As I dance the night away

MAROONED ON ADESERT ISLAND

It all happened on the 11,4,84 on my sixteenth birthday .I was working for Irish ferries. We were delivering letters to England’s G.P.O We were travelling at 22knots per hour. We were 18 miles away from the Dover coastline. When a hurricane hit .The ship was turned from all sides until it broke in half. There were 75 crew members on the ship, but only 22 of them were with me. Suddenly the ships half that we were on started to sink .We could not get to a life boat because it went down with the other half of the ship. We started throwing rafts off the ship we brought 112 flares with us .We swam in freezing water for 2 days. Until we found a desert island. On the island we picked berries and fished. Eventually we built huts .We let of flares and prayed for survival and also lit a fire. Then on the 15,6,84 we saw a red sail on the horizon . We set off flares .The ship seen our flair and came to the rescue. Out of 22 only 16 survived. I now am the captain of the Stena lynx and 32 years old.

All Day And All Night

The day ye play in the schoolyard

Is when ye go and laugh,

You play all day and all night,

You have a good day in the schoolyard,

And have a happy trip home.

When you go home do your homework

And play all day and all night,

So go and have a good time now.

In The Mist

In that field above the moor,

The wind whistled through the hills,

I thought where is she?,

Then I saw her scarf blow in the wind.

And then I saw her,

She came from the mist,

And took my heart,

And she when as fast as she came.

Sun Moon Star

We go on horseback riding across the park,

Your hair is the colour gold

Your eyes are like fury,

Soft and gentle,

As we ride a cross the river,

The moon reflects your image,

You are the sun moon and stars,

You are paradise.

Hot cold beauty

Hot Cold beauty

You keep me warm,

But you give a chill,

Hot Cold beauty.

The chill you give me,

Makes me warm.

You are as evil as the devil,

But as beautiful as the Nile,

Hot Cold beauty,

Hot Cold beauty.

I HAVE ADREAM

I HAVE ADREAM

That I am keen on

For when I’m weak

Someone to lean on

I have a dream

That war was over

And food shipped out

To poor from Dover

I have a dream

That war was over

That’s what I dream of

Over and over
