Since the beginning of the century eleven curates have served in
Monamolin and five of them survive today. John Maher was the incumbent
at the turn of the century, and was appointed parish priest of Oulart in
1911.
Patrick Kane replaced him. He died in Monamolin in 1917. Robert Hickey
had a brief stay until 1918. He later became President of St.Peter's
College.
Thomas Moran remained until 1922 when he was transferred to Tinahely
Co.Wicklow. Michael Rossiter followed for thirteen years until he was
replaced by John Quigley, who was appointed Parish Priest of Piercestown
in 1955. He was replaced by Edward (Ned) Connolly who remained in
Monamolin until 1966, when he was appointed to Gusserane. He later
returned to Kilmuckridge as Parish Priest from where he retired in 1990.
He celebrated his Golden Jubilee in June 1996.
John Doyle spent twelve years as curate from 1966 to 1978. Bernard
Cushen, then replaced him. In 1980 Patrick Stafford was appointed to the
curacy where he remained until he was appointed Parish Priest of Glynn
in 1994. The current incumbent is James Murphy. It is interesting to
note that in 1994 James Murphy succeeded Patrick Stafford in the curacy
of Monamolin. In 1823 James Murphy succeeded Patrick Stafford as Parish
Priest of Kilmuckridge. History has a tendency to repeat itself after
all!
