Thurs. 31st Dec. Molly Finn's, Ballymahon (that's New Year's Eve ya dumb shit)
The gig next saturday in the Dean Egan will be an all ages gig in aid of the Ballymahon Festival and will include a load of other bands. Romance is Dead from Wicklow(who play in Skelly's on Friday 19th) will kick off the gig at around 3pm. The Hoodlums are supposedly headlining and will be on at around seven or eight.
Other bands playing include The Rush Queens, No Matrix, Global Assault and Fully Loaded. Oh yea, we have been reliably informed that nobody under10 years of age will be admitted unless accompanied by a teenager! Well thank god for that, cos without those trustworthy teenagers the u-10's might wreak havoc and drink too much coke from the mineral bar, flooding the place with piss causing the amps to catch fire and fry The Hoodlums to death.
On St.Stephen's Day we will be in Paddy Ward's, we're not sure if there will be support on the night but we will be playing a set of 90mins or so(hopefully) and we will be on at 11 or so.
What the fuck is the story with The Rustic Inn? nothing wrong with the place itself, just everytime we play there the band we are supporting seem to be akward assholes...Bunny letting us play for only 5 songs, Minky Joe Harte-just look below, and now Big Generator want us to play acoustic in case our set ends up being too heavy! Anyway we've decided to support Big Generator on the 28th as they're a very good band, even though we will have to learn a whole new set again. There will be a cover charge probably and five hour delays afterwards trying to get a taxi home as every taxi driver around seems to suddenly get a run to the airport.
Finally, on New Year's Eve we will be playing in Molly Finn's. Not sure what time we will be on at but we will be finished before midnight anyway. There was going to be a charge of 60euro with free food and drink being offered for the night. However, the good people of Molly Finn's then realised that you would want to be mad to pay that much money to see us and so they quickly abolished the idea, which is kind of a shame as we were really looking forward to getting free drink and food all night, ah well.

A Right Micky of a Show
(30/11/2003)
Due to Micky Harte and his crew being an absolute shower of assholes The
Hoodlums couldn't play as a full band. Using a series of shit excuses, they said they were
expecting a singer-songwriter.
So Colm and Gareth played a short acoustic set instead under the name The Inbreds.
The set was:
The Drugs Don't Work - The Verve
The Scientist - Coldplay
Married With Children - Oasis
Disarm - The Smashing Pumpkins
Mollys Chamber - KIngs of Leon
Mad World - Gary Jules.
There was a poor turn out for Minky a sure sign of his now waning career. He'll soon fade
away and we'll be delighted. Thanks to all who showed up for us anyways.

New Record news
(06/09/2003)
After a furious bout of gigging, The Hoodlums are now writing and practising
for their new record which is due to be recorded/released in October/November. They say the
new songs will be faster and with more effects. I've heard some of the new stuff and
it's influence by The Music, Chilli Peppers (By the Way period) and maybe even a bit of the
oldest most wrinkliest men in rock: The Rolling Stones. No track names have been
decided yet but please email us if you have any suggestionsthe_hoodlums@hotmail.com

it's in Longford, which is not exactly as big as Ballymahon so,you should find it. If you

Gig on Sunday
(15/07/2003)
The Hoodlums will play this Sunday (20th) in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule. The gig is in
support of Bunny, although me thinks it should be the other way round (but what do I
know?) (well actually a lot) (enough to pass all my college repeat, repeat exams - 41% 43%
and 46% beat that)
The gig is strictly over 18's so all you 15 year old fella's I can lend you some of my
old college id's but, you have to have brown hair and look moderately ugly. And pay me a
fiver. If you fit these conditions, meet me around the corner from the rustic at nine, the
code words are "fake id, sell to me".
Oh ye, I forgot, I've heard Bunny's ego's may have inflated a lot since they last played the
Rustic, so I think it would be funny if you booed them and took the wind out of their sails
a bit. Hilarious fun for all the family.

What THe Hoodlums have been at...
(08/07/2003)
The Hoodlums have not been heard of since Easter. What the hell have they
been at you may wonder, well wonder no more....
Colm - Vocals
Colm has been working in Kepak Ltd. in Ballymahon. It's a
fine establishment, and interestingly enough, I probably hold the record for working there,
the most seperate times. I've been there about 7 or 8 different times. Each time I go back,
it's no less fun, whether it's the banter with the Brazilian and Polish workers, who don't
speak English, the pains in your back in the evenings or the joy of going in when it's dark
in the morning and coming out when it's dark at night. Daylight is overrated anyway.
Colm seems to like it there anyway.... "I do enjoy working in Kepak. Although sometimes I
get angry and frustrated but I can resolve this by boxing some of the sides of beef. It's a
great tension releaser. And it tenderises the Beef. (that's colm in the center of the photo,
jabbing the hind quarter) Sometimes it gets boring though. Then I have fun putting some of
the 4 foot high Brazilians into boxes and stacking them on shelves. It sounds
dangerous, but it's not, I always jab the box with a knife to make some airholes.
Diarmuid - Bass
Diarmuid is currenty driving Tractors for Bord Na Moaner. He says he loves it and he eats at
least two slice pans every day.

That's Diarmuid in the Blue Massey Ferguson 90210. He told me he polishes it every night and
is saving up for alloy wheels and a body kit. God I wish I was Diarmuid.
Paddy - Drums
Paddy has generally been out of work apart from one silage cutting contract he got last
week. He says he was determined to take his chance and worked through the night to impress
the landowner. He even cut out the silage in the design of his favourite Tv presenters,
Richard and Judy

Unfortunately, the farmer who he was cutting the silage was not impressed. It turned out his
wife is from Sheffield and was once humiliated on Richard and Judy, after here dress caught
in a microphone stand and she fell over on her arse. Poor Paddy. The luck just isn't
with him in terms of work, this summer.
Gareth - Guitar
Gareth has been away on a two week solo U.S. tour. I have 3 pictures of the tour, but
unfortunately I left them in Boston, so I won't have them until Friday. Stay tuned however
because I have a short interview with Gareth (who uses the solo name - G. and insists on
being called it in interviews) which will appear on Friday

Interview from Mercy Secondary School TYO Gazette with The
Hoodlums
(22/05/2003)
Q.1 When did you form and how?
Last summer. After a few gigs with just the three of us (Gareth, Diarmuid and Paddy), we
decided to get a new singer and that was Colm and well, that's it really.
Who thought of the name and what does it mean?
Gareth thought of it. A Hoodlum is a sort of gangster rap 'Boyz n the Hood' sort of
'brother' and seeing as we play gangster rap and are a group, we are "The Hoodlums".
Who writes most of your songs and do you all have an input into the music?
We all write our own parts to the songs. It's fairly democratic really - we're all
equal.
Would you ever have a female member?
Well, our line up is complete really but maybe a few dancers, so show us what you got,
girls.
Do you have girls following you, screaming at you?
Oh yeah all the time, sure look at us, check out that figure!
Do you think you get more girls because you're in a band?
Lord yeah, sure we're all big stud muffins, what can we do?
Do you think you will be famous one day?
Oh, of course.

Beckham set to sign with The Hoodlums
(01/05/2003)
English newspaper The Daily Mirror has reported
that Manchester United star David Beckham who was rumoured to be leaving the club in a
big money move to Real Madrid in the summer is now set to sign with The Hoodlums
instead.
The Hoodlum's manager Dave McLynn announced the transfer (which will go ahead on June 1st)
at a press conference late last night to about 150 national and international journalists at
the press room in Paddy's Pub, Ballymahon. However McLynn did admit that members may have to
be sold off to raise cash for the £35 million transfer: "We will probably be selling
off drummer Paddy McCormac and maybe buy a drum machine instead. We would be hoping that
Beckham could slot in on the right wing up beside singer Colm Coffey and play the
bass. We'd probably then be able to sell off our bass player, Diarmuid Fallon, perhaps to
Liverpool who we know are interested in buying a winger. We'd be hoping to raise about £15m
from the sales".
Yesterday, while I was attending a big New York fashion thing along with some of my pals
from the I.C.A. I bumped into Vicoria "Posh Spice" Beckham and asked her to comment on the
rumours: "David has allways been a trendsetter in his life, he wore a sarong, he admitted to
liking wearing my underwear and he also sported a fetching Mullet & Moustache combo
earlier in the season, he sees being the first footballer to sign for a rock band as
being the next step in his trailblazing/trendsetting career.
Critics were quick to point out that Beckham may find find it hard to adjust to live with
The Hoodlums and the fact that there are no designer shops in Ballymahon and the nearest
Gucci and Prada shops are to be found almost 3 miles away in Kenagh. A
reporter from Spain's Marca Sport's Newspaper questioned
the fact that Beckham cannot even play a musical instrument but McLynn was quick to leap to
Beckham's defence: "Beckham will not be a normal musician. He is not a normal footballer,
and is actually supposed to be a winger but couldn't dribble past a player if his Armani
wearing life depended on it. So the fact that he can't play an instrument doesn't matter. He
can sit and look moody on the right wing like he does for Man Utd."

Hotpress recieve Demo and McLynn does some work
shocker!
(12/03/2003)
Hoodlums manager Dave McLynn finally took his ass
out of the jacquzzi in his limo, told his girlfriends (3 of them, blonde
triplets) to leave him alone for a while and did some work. He has sent in The Hoodlums
"Death of the Moustache" for review in Hot Press.
This is an important step for the band. If the review dude thinks a lot of it, it'll mean a
million squid record deal and the band jetting off for a U.S. and Iraqi tour. Even if he
doesn't think a lot of it, I'll probably be leaving anyway.
The reason being, that the Hotpress dude will see my genius writing skills (the website
address is on the demo) and immediately tell his editor to hire me on several grand a
week. In fact the Hotpress dude might be reading this right now. (Hello dude, clear out
your desk, I'll need my own one, and tell the editor to get me a secretary aswell, I don't
like making tea). So it's farewell from me, many thanks for the lack of letters of
support, I'm off to the big city. Maybe I'll get a lift in McLynn's limo.
