The National Development Committee (NDC) is the committee under the Irish Table Tennis Association charged with the responsibility of "Developing Table Tennis in the Four Provinces of Ireland."

The NDC was first formed in 2001 and has evolved through the original National Coaching and Development Committee (NCDC). The committee is made up of a chairperson selected by the ITTA Board of Management and nominated Provincial representatives. A non-voting secretary can be co-opted by the committee as the need dictates.

The completition and implementation of the ITTA Strategic Development Plan (ISDP) is and will be a complex and important task. It is necessary for certain development models to be identified. The structure of development is interdependent on the education and support of players, coaches and the volunteer administrators active within the different levels of the sport. It is crucial that athlete, coach, officials and organisers have identified pathways for them to progress within our sport. It is necessary in order for any realistic objectives to be met that these models must be suited to the needs of all the regions. Here lies the challenge to develop a National Development Programme. The NDC has already begun to develop this model identifying 4 major areas of player development and 4 of general development.

PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
1. Introductory Courses.
2. Proficiency Scheme.
3. Club/School coaching Schemes.
4. Regional Centres.

GENERAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Coach/Leader Education.
2. Clubs/Schools.
3. Umpire Education.
4. Community Organisations.

The National Development Committee hopes to instigate the development of the regions by supporting these identified areas of development. The regional representatives of the NDC are seeking submissions within these areas.
