In the beginning, the Native Americans welcomed the Europeans and they got on well together. The Natives were very amused by the white men’s beards as they themselves had very little body hair.
They introduced the Europeans to foods like potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, pineapples, peanuts and corn, and indeed to tobacco. The Europeans too, introduced new things to the Natives, like horses, guns and alcohol.
