About the GroupRoscommon Heritage Group is a voluntary, independent group of members concerned with the conservation and promotion of the heritage Roscommon Town and its environs. With the help of the community we monitor the condition of buildings, monuments and areas of importance to local heritage, help instigate repairs where necessary - sometimes from our own funds. Heritage is a broad subject matter with many aspects, so we work closely with many organizations including Roscommon County Council, Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society and Mote Park Amenity and Conservation Group. Our work tends to generally fall within three categories: About RoscommonRoscommon is a town of about 4000 inhabitants in the heart of the Irish midlands and the principle town of County Roscommon. Founded in ca. 730 by the town and county's namesake, St. Coman, Roscommon boasts a rich historical, built and natural heritage.
