Kevin J Magee has written or co-written a number of short films, feature films and theatrical scripts. Some of them have been produced and others are presently doing the rounds of the funding bodies and some of them are in the final draft stages. This is a short overview of some of them. Under My Skin. Feature ( 113 mins.) screenplay by Kevin J Magee & Syd Heylen Jnr A romantic comedy following the lives of a group of late twenties music and media types as they go through the daily grind. That is until a mystery woman turns up and steals the heart of Dexter (a jazz muso). The others come in the form of Elvis - a jingle writer, Ben - a newspaper columnist, Rachael - Dexters A&R rep at sony records and Sonja - a waitress and political science student, oh and of course Sarah -the mystery woman. Pogue Productions producers John F Leahy & Kevin Magee written and directed by Kevin J Magee & John F Leahy cast Jonathon Maher (jacko), Anne Gildea (nuala) original score by Jonathon Maher A quest for a wife to comply with his father’s Will, leads jacko a merry chase from Sydney to Paris, Rome, Dublin and London. Along the way he only manages to get himself in more trouble as he only has two weeks to achieve this, and his grasp of languages is to say the least, less than basic. But then again - who knows where love may lie.. The Donkey Jacket Short ( 7 mins) Middle J Productions written, produced and directed by Kevin J Magee The story of two Irish brothers looking for work in Australia. When a barman at their local gives them a tip on some labouring jobs our lads end up in the interview technique of a local builder. A Purple Heart Short ( 16 mins) Screenplay by Kevin J Magee & Conor Mahood Garrett writes short stories for women’s magazines, Grainne won’t let him be, Orla watches from the distance and Niamh is, well, Niamh. Set in contemporary Dublin, A Purple Heart looks at what can happen to you if you just wander along, doing your thing, your way. Ruddy and Anaemic Short ( 6 - 9 mins) Old Vaudevillian Films script by Syd Heylen Jnr & Kevin J Magee D.O.P. Paul O’Loughlin cast: Magee (ruddy) Heylen (anaemic) A pair of screenwriters try to decide on the plot of their next project, never really ever getting close to consensus, and maintaining their own viewpoints.
