German Jumps

It was very popular in south Armagh . Elastic bands were stuck together streched between two people . Two to four people would jump in and out of the elastic bands saying England ,Ireland ,Scotland ,Wales inside outside on the scales. It went higher each time.The winner was the person who jumped the highest.

Skittles

Skittles was played on the roadside. Acircle would be drawn in the middle of the road. The circle was 3 feet in diameter. They drew a cross. On the end of each cross there would be a skittle. The players tried to hit the skittles. There was points for each skittle. To win you would have to get a certain amount of points. skittles

 

Ship/sea/shore.

ship You would have to be in a straight line one behind another. Someone stands at the top of the line and shouts either ship , sea or shore. Ship is where you are standing, sea is to your right and shore is to your left. After a while it would get harder and they would call out a few places one after the other. E.g. SHORE/SEA/SHIP/SEA/SHORE/ SHIP .

Tip the can

You get an empty can and put it in the middle of the road.The person who is on counts when everybody hides. Then everybody comes out of their hiding spaces and has to tip the can before the person on catches them. When you tip the can you have to scream 'tip the can'.
