The pupil of the
month competition has been running for three years now. It
is a competition which tries to reward pupils for their diligent
work in any area of the curriculum during the month. It also
promotes a respect for student peers by rewarding good behaviour
among pupils.
Each class teacher
decides on the pupil intheir class who has displayed an improvement
in work or behaviour over a monthly period. Students who are
constantly well behaved and always work hard might receive
this award a number of times during the year. A teacher may
decide that more than one student deserves the award in any
given month. In this case two or three children might receive
the award.
The results are
displayed along the corridor in the school for all to see
and each child is presented with a certificate by Mr. Kinsella.
The De La Salle Award:
This is only the second year that the De La Salle Award has
been presented to a student. This award reminds us of the
great work that the De La Salle Brothers did in our parish.
They helped to educate the youth of our parish through good
times and bad.
Any student who displays courage, determination and strength
of character is rewarded for his behaviuor in this special
way. It is a great honour to receive this award and we, as
teachers, are honoured to have taught its recipients.
