Baulon & Bourg-Des-Comptes

BAULON
Baulon, situated in the west of the Canton forms the centrepiece of two very differing traditions - the growing expansion of South Rennes and the ancient "Pays de Broceliande", home to the many myths and legends of Brittany. There is plenty for the tourist to see in the area - the Landes Blanches (white moors) and the Valley of the Canut, its forests and lakes. In the parish church the restored altarpiece is lit by magnificent stained-glass windows.

BOURG-DES-COMPTES
Bourg-des-Comptes is situated in the tourist area of the valley of the Vilaine river and the main RN 137. There are a number of castles and manor houses to be seen, in particular the Chateau du Boschet, which is classified as an historic monument. It is known as the Petit Versailles Breton, because of its gardens which were designed by one of Louis XIV's principal architects Le Notre. From the tiny hamlet of La Courbe on the right bank of the Vilaine river pleasure boats are available for trips on the river. There is a local campsite (2 star). There are many sporting and cultural clubs in the town.
