March 2000 . .
It was Skerries turn to welcome a group from Guichen to celebrate the St. Patrick's Day
festival. Our visitors, dressed in Breton t-shirts took part in the Skerries Parade and were
awarded the prize for the best contribution by a "foreign" group. A very lively ceili was
organised, as well as a trip to Trim and Newgrange. The highlight of the Trim outing
was a viewing of the Ireland-France rugby match, where Ireland made a stunning
comeback to beat the French opposition in the Stade de France, leaving our French
guests somewhat perplexed !
April 2000
A group of 35 students from the College St. Joseph visited Skerries on the first leg of the
French Exchange trip. An entertaining programme of events was organised for the
teenagers during their stay.
June 2000
The return trip by the Irish students took place from 8th-19th June. 30 students,
acccompanied by three teachers made the journey. The three teachers, representing
Skerries Town Twinning Association, took part in a weekend of activities to mark the
twinning of the Canton of Guichen with the Czech Republic town of Milevsko. As part
of the ceremonies, the representatives were proud to inaugurate the Allee de Skerries in
the town of Laille.

March 2001
A small group went from Skerries to Guichen to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
June 2001
Skerries hosted a group of 20 teenagers and three leaders from the Canton for a six-day
programme of sports and cultural activities, with the emphasis on European friendships.
It had been planned that this would be a tri-partite meeting, with a group of 20 expected
from Milevsko. It was a great disappointment that due to financial constraints the Czech
group had to withdraw at the last minute.
