NATIONAL HOT ROD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Davy McCall came away from Ipswich Spedeweekend on July 14th as World Hot Rod Champion 2002 after leading from flag to flag over the 75 laps. The Dungannon man, (previously tipped by this reporter it must be said ) had been almost disregarded by some seasoned campaigners but he proved his mettle winning this prestigious title in his first full season back in NHRs . Davy is of course no stranger to the winners enclosure at Ipswich having won this event in the famous "wet" race back in 1990.
Best of the Tipperary drivers again this year was Tom Casey finishing fifth in his Focus with Neville Stanley also coming home inside the top ten.
