Kit Kat All Ireland Schools Competition

Tullamore Saturday 3rd June

Seamus Gallagher (coach) and Paul Donavan

Having 10m to spare over his nearest rivals in Ulster, Paul Donovan, Carrick V. S. and Sliabh Liag AC, carried the Ulster flag to Tullamore in the Junior Boys Hammer competition. This was one of the first competitions on Saturday morning and it soon developed into a two horse race between Paul and Chris Walsh from Belvedere College. There was nothing between them in the first round. The crucial throws came in the 2nd round with Paul throwing a very impressive 41.14m while Chris threw 45.44m. These were to be the final placing as neither athlete made any improvement on these figures. This silver medal achievement was well deserved, as Paul is one of the most dedicated athletes in the country. It is also testament to the work being done by coach Seamus Gallagher. Well done, Paul!
