To use a tab setting in a table, press [Ctrl] + [Tab] - if you press [Tab] you'll simply move one cell 10 the right. Press [Tab] In the last cell in a table to add a new row. To centre a table in Word 2002, select it and press the Center button on the Formatting toolbar.
Use the Draw Table tool on the Tables and Borders toolbar to draw angled lines in tables. Add a coloured background to a table cell by using the Shading Color tool on the Tables and Borders toolbar. Select the top row of a table and set it as a heading at the top of =ach new page by choosing Table, Heading Rows Repeat.
Size rows evenly so your table fits the page by dragging the :able's bottom border down, then electing the table and choosing Table, AutoFit, Distribute Rows Evenly. Number cells in a table by selecting them and clicking the Numbering button on the toolbar. Move a row up by pressing [Alt] + [Shift] + [Up cursor].
Alter the way text wraps around a table by right-clicking it, choosing Table Properties and
selecting an option from Table tab.
To select an entire row of a table, position your mouse in the left margin opposite it and click. Change the direction of text by clicking In the cell, right-clicking and choosing Text Direction.
Quickly format a table by selecting it and choosing Table, AutoFormat.
Define your own custom table format to use with Word 2002's
AutoFormats by choosing Table,
AutoFormat, New.
Add a horizontal line inside a table cell by clicking in the cell and from the Borders palette choosing Horizontal Line. Add spacing between table cells by right-clicking the table and choosing Table Properties, Table tab, Options and setting the default cell spacing value.
Format a table using Word 20Q2's new Table styles by displaying the Styles and formatting Task pane and clicking the format to use.
Use a table with its borders turned off to create side-by-side paragraphs of text. Automatically add captions to all newly inserted tables: choose Insert, Caption (in Word 2002 choose Insert, Reference, Caption) and click AutoCaption. Select Microsoft Word Table and click OK.
