1. San Francisco, USA

We flew from Dublin to London Heathrow and boarded a British Airways flight to San Francisco, one of the most exciting cities in the USA. We met up with Conor Guiney who had flown up from Austin, |

Texas. The same evening, although somewhat jetlagged, we went for some Chinese in ... er, Chinatown. Úna went swimming at 5 am the next morning as our body-clocks were all out of whack. |
|
All that activity set the tone for the day. We walked through Chinatown and Little Italy to the Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, which affords an amazing view. We took a look at Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf and |

hired some bikes with which to cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, where we had some lunch. We took the ferry back and proceeded on a tour of Alcatraz, a very depressing place! |
The following day was pretty much a wash out due to incessant rain, but Úna got some shopping done around Union Square. We did go to see Ghirardelli's chocolate factory and saw heaven! |

Our trip wasn't long enough to see much more, but we'll definitely return for a more comprehensive visit. Napa Valley and the Pacific Coast remain to be explored.
