Professional & Ethical Guidelines for Yoga Teachers

  • To manage ones personal life according to yamas & niyamas, with integrity, honesty & good health.

  • To keep a safe & stimulating environment for physical, mental & spiritual development.  

  • To teach strictly according to ones professional ability & level of practice.

  • Not to take on students with serious life threatening conditions.

  • To teach pregnant women only after having successfully completed a specialised course.

  • To keep informed of new developments in the practice of Yoga.

  • To maintain respectful relations with other schools of Yoga & their teachers.

  • To establish & maintain appropriate professional relationships with students & colleagues.

  • To show respect & compassion in teaching.

  • To establish a clear & fair system of fees for classes & courses.

  • To be aware of the moral, social & religious standards & expectations of students in the expression of the ethics of Yoga practice.

  • Not to discriminate against any individual on the basis of ethnicity, gender, religion or sexual orientation.

  • To treat communication with students with professional confidentiality.

  • To maintain appropriate sexual & emotional boundaries with students in class contexts.
